Tempe, AZ – Century Grand
Barter & Shake Creative Hospitality recently opened Century Grand — an art deco-inspired concept aiming to immerse guests in the experience of sipping modern cocktails in an early 20th-century train station. Century Grand offers an extensive whiskey list, an array of interesting wines, and, of course, meticulously fashioned cocktails. Chef Sacha Levine, formerly named Best of Phoenix’s vegetable wizard, has prepared a menu of mostly sharable items, harking back to comfort dishes made in humble American homes of the 1920s and ’30s

Boston, MA – Banners Kitchen & Tap
If the impressive (albeit pricey) draft beer list at Banners Kitchen & Tap, a new sports bar that opened at Hub on Causeway, isn’t enough to reel you in, then maybe its TV situation will. The bar claims to have the biggest in-restaurant LED TV on the East Coast, a massive thing dubbed the “Dream Screen.” On game night, take a seat at the bar; enjoy a beer or two from Trillium, Bent Water, Lone Pine, and other regional breweries; and indulge in an order of wings while rooting for your team.

West Palm Beach, FL – Sassafras
These share the menu with a range of snacks (including crispy chicken skins cacio e pepe), raw bar items, veggies, small plates (like chicken liver paté with pickled watermelon rind mostarda, and Wagyu beef cheeks and dumplings), and larger “supper” plates (as in shrimp and Geechie Boy Mill grits with bacon, butter sauce and scallions). Side dishes include radiatore and cheese, local squash and lima bean succotash and his grandmother Betty’s family-famous baked beans. For dessert: beignets with chicory custard, buttermilk panna cotta with cranberry honey and a s’mores chocolate chess pie, among other options.

Dayton, OH – Club Oceano Seafood & Bar
Club Oceano Seafood & Bar at The Greene Town Center is the newest entry on the local fine-dining seafood scene. Club Oceano’s founders are Raymond Chow, Sam Zheng and Brian Andzik. Chow and Zheng are co-founders of Sky Asian Cuisine, an Asian restaurant in Kettering. Andzik has served for 28 years as chairman and organizer of the Italian Fall Festa in Kettering.

Milwaukee, WI – Empanada restaurant
The 4,000-square-foot space is located on the ground floor adjacent to Public House, a new restaurant and bar from the team behind Gin Mill and the old Davidson Street Public House. Although operating separately, Public House will manage Middle C’s food program, including table service and a menu of small plates.

Tampa, FL – Old-School Bar and Grill
Chef Kaz, a Tokyo native, gained a following while manning Shogun’s sushi bar, and later through his wildly popular omakase pop-ups around town. Now, along with his Shogun and pop-up partner-in-sushi Eli Ramos, chef Kaz will open his own sushi restaurant, Nagomi. While it will technically be omakase, the pair wants the 12-seat sushi bar to be approachable in both price and style, with meals starting at $45. Nagomi will have two seatings per night, and chef Kaz says he hopes to get direction from diners on what they’re seeking that night, whether it be straight sushi or fusion.

North Palm Beach, FL – Farmer’s Table
Its debut date at the North Palm Beach Country Club is now “on target” for the first week of December, says a restaurant rep. The plan is for the sprawling restaurant to be open in time for the annual Holiday Boat Parade, she says. The parade happens Dec. 7. Farmer’s Table partners Joey Giannuzzi and Mitchell Robbins are expanding their Boca concept to meet the needs of the municipal club, which is undergoing a nearly $19 million rebuild. The concept includes a 260-seat restaurant and bar, a grab-and-go market and a 200-seat banquet space.

Bellevue, WA – Castilla
A New Spanish restaurant is set to open at Bellevue Square. According to Downtown Bellevue Network, Castillo will will also include a tapas bar. Castillo is set to open in October 2019.

Austin, TX – Julie Myrtille Bakery
is opening her first full-on French bakery and daytime cafe in Govalle. Nashville, TN – Fat Kat Slim’s
1950s style diner Fat Kat Slim’s comes from the owners of Earnest Bar & Hideaway. Sliding into the former Pour House space at Division and 8th, the two-story restaurant and bar’s first floor will be sock hop-inspired, featuring a stocked jukebox. Upstairs will be an event space and private “hospitality industry-only” bar. Nostalgia will be a focus, and so will diners’ interaction with staff in character. Fat Kat Slim’s will serve a nostalgic comfort food menu (think meatloaf, patty melts, and cobbler) from chef Larry Carlile, also of Earnest Bar & Hideaway.

New Orleans, LA – Nagomi
Chef Kaz, a Tokyo native, gained a following while manning Shogun’s sushi bar, and later through his wildly popular omakase pop-ups around town. Now, along with his Shogun and pop-up partner-in-sushi Eli Ramos, chef Kaz will open his own sushi restaurant, Nagomi. El Tacuba is headed for a space just around the corner from Tenoch in Medford Center.

Portland, OR – Bae’s Chicken
One of the city’s most prolific restaurateurs, Micah Camden is pivoting from his recent trend of vegan ice cream and heading back to fried chicken with Bae’s Chicken. Opening before season’s end, Garcia’s new restaurant will serve her interpretation of home-style Latin American cuisine, highlighting dishes from Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia and Mexico. Though a menu isn’t yet available, expect a handful of items cooked over a wood-fired grill or on a traditional plancha.

Seattle, WA – Rupee Bar
Joe Sundberg and Rachel Johnson, owners of the well-regarded Wallingford seafood restaurant Manolin, have been planning a new spot in Ballard, with a menu influenced by Sri Lankan cuisine. While many details have been kept under wraps, some teaser dishes chef Elisabeth Kenyon revealed on Instagram include mutton rolls, pani puri, fried chicken, eggplant, and paratha. “All inspections and permits are checked off the list,” Sundberg tells Eater Seattle. “Chef Liz has started cooking in the space. We are getting close.”

New York, NY – Le Club
The late chef Joël Robuchon’s disciple, Christophe Bellanca, has plans to mix things up. At his new, clubby spot attached to Robuchon’s L’Atelier, “We will use the same high-level ingredients as L’Atelier but have different preparations. We want to add some fun,” says Bellanca. Those plans include snacky bites, such as a trio with popcorn, brie and white truffle, in the space previously called Le Grill.

Chicago, IL – Avli River North
Avli Taverna was only the appetizer for Louie Alexakis, a chef who’s determined to share Greek culture with the rest of Chicago. Taverna continues to draw crowds in Lincoln Park, but as the name suggests, it’s more of a neighborhood bar. Avli River North is where Alexakis can really show off his food skills. Downtown Chicago rarely sees upscale Greek restaurants. He’s joined by investor Lou Canellis, a Chicago sportscaster. There’s two floors, a patio, and dishes like honey & fig saganaki and Kataifi prawns. Expect an opening the first week of October.

Los Angeles, CA – Yakido Yakitori
Hong Kong chef Matt Abergel and partner Lindsay Jang know how to throw a party. The pair have been collaborating across two continents, turning chicken skewers and keeping the drinks flowing. Now the pair is set to open Yakido, a yakitori and bar stop in Downtown Los Angeles by the end of the year. To build anticipation for the smokey, vibey restaurant, the pair have been embarking on a series of pop-ups in Los Angeles and beyond, from food festivals to one one night stands at Shibumi. The hype is already real.

Philadelphia, PA – Bud & Marilyn’s
Safran Turney’s second location of their Midwestern supper club, located between Terminals B and C at PHL, will be ready to serve you pre-flight fried cheese curds in the next week or so.

Brooklyn, NY – F & F Pizzeria
This new slice shop comes from well-established Brooklyn restaurateurs Frank Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli, together known as the Franks — with some help from two of the biggest bread and pizza bakers in the country: Chad Robertson of beloved California bakery Tartine and Chris Bianco of the popular Pizza Bianco in Arizona, who are taking a non-financial consulting role in the new spot. The pizzas here will be made from grain that’s freshly milled every two weeks and natural sourdough leaven, a bid to create a more sustainable and healthy pie. Slice shops are certainly having their moment, and this addition is likely to be just as promising for the neighborhood. The Franks, after all, already run neighborhood hits like Frankies 457 Spuntino and a next-door wine bar

Nashville, TN – Lou
The cozy Inglewood house most recently occupied by Fort Louise returns to life so soon as a new all-day cafe, brunch locale, and natural wine bar. Owned by chef Mailea Weger, the 1930s craftsman home in East Nashville’s hip Riverside Village sees a fresh white coat of paint and interior refresh plus an exciting menu for Nashville, one that includes Tuesday through Sunday brunch. After spending time at New Orleans’ Herbsaint, Weger opened LA’s cult-favorite restaurant Gjusta as Sous Chef and was later promoted to its sister restaurant, Gjelina. Most recently, she led the kitchen at Echo in Paris, France, a Parisian-Californian café and deli that garnered much critical acclaim. Weger’s menu in her new Nashville project is a nod to healthy-ish West Coast cuisine — emphasizing seasonality and sustainability through vegetable-forward dishes and a focused selection of proteins, alongside a low-ABV cocktail menu and an all-natural wine program to complement each dish.

Portland, OR– Two Wrongs
No, it’s not the shortly lived cocktail bar and nightclub that closed in 2018, but it does share the name and will be in the Pearl — Two Wrongs comes from River Pig owner Ramzy Hattar along with some bar veterans and will feature tropical drinks and slushies paired with Moroccan and Armenian cuisine like sweet and savory crepes, developed by Instagram food personality Chef Monkey, aka Naira Ayvazyan. The space itself sounds dreamy, with Spanish and Moroccan tiles and Moroccan lanterns.

Portland, OR – G-Love
The details: A vegetable-heavy restaurant from AL’s Place vet Garrett Benedict, G-Love will show off the chef’s technical skill while highlighting produce from Olde Moon Farm in Silverton, located on his parents’ land. The restaurant will keep the protein servings small, focusing instead on boisterous produce dishes like savory rice porridge with grilled broccoli and preserved lime or heirloom tomato “tartare.” The restaurant is in full construction mode, but for now, the chef is focusing on his Kickstarter, which offers kickbacks like dinner for one at the chef’s counter.

Tempe, AZ – Chicago’s Chicken Shack
Here’s something that could be a little taste of home for all you Chicago transplants. Chicago’s Chicken Shack has opened a Tempe location near University and McClintock drives. The small eatery specializes in Chicago-style fried chicken — meaning barbecue-soaked skins from drizzles of sauce across the entire plate.

New York, NY – Catch Steak
Catch Hospitality Group, best known for seafood towers and famous customers, is opening its first steakhouse, in the former La Sirena space. Executive chef Michael Vignola and culinary director John Beatty are searing meat at 1700F with cuts like the 12-ounce bone-in cowgirl rib-eye dry-aged for 32 days. There’s also a selection of steaks ordered by the ounce and cooked tabletop, including Olive Beef, a gold medal winner of the Wagyu Olympics (!), from Kagawa prefecture in Japan, and true A5 Kobe New York strip steak from Hyogo prefecture. To accompany all the dry-aged, prime, American, and Japanese beef, there will be 50-plus sauces, relishes, and marinades. Catch Steak also promises vegan options—on request.

Somerville, MA – Create Gallery & Cocktail Lounge
Bow Market recently gained a new addition to its collection of restaurants, bars, and businesses with the arrival of Create Gallery & Cocktail Lounge, a tiny space showcasing artwork and serving creative craft cocktails on the market’s second floor. Owner Louis DiBiccari, founder of the art series Create, has curated a list of eight cocktails from nine local bartenders, so that guests can experience drinks from some of Boston’s most talented bartenders all in one place.

Tulsa, OK – Lowood
Hodges Bend owners are opening a new restaurant in the space formerly held Girouard Vines, which moved its wine production to California in 2017.  Social media posts indicate that they will open to the public the first week in September.  Partners Noah Bush, chef Ian Van Anglen and Chip Gaberino, who also have the Saturn Room in addition to Hodges Bend, will operate Lowood.

“We will have a three-pronged concept,” Van Anglen added. “We will have some wonderful steaks and chops, hand-made pasta dishes and an impressive wine list. We still will have great cocktails and beers, but we will put more emphasis on the wines.”

Cambridge, MA – Lily P’s
The restaurant – which is named for Parsons’ daughter – will have space for 200 diners and will focus on pressure-fried chicken and oysters. The bar will feature an enviable 40 draft lines and will focus on craft beer and cider, including the crown jewel of Sheppy’s, a cider from the UK. There will also be a seasonal patio with seating for 50 additional diners.
