Dewey Destin’s seafood restaurant, sitting on a dock stretching into Choctawhatchee Bay off the Panhandle town of Destin, was built over state-owned submerged land without getting a permit, the state claims. A proposed settlement for the dispute would likely set a precedent for the development of the rest of the state’s scenic waterfront. Popular Dewey Destin's Seafood Restaurant was supposedly built over water owned by Florida. Surprisingly the lease was signed in  1985 with the stipulation that a restaurant could NOT be built there.
